Sukhavati 極樂

My work explores possible worlds after death. Sukhavati moves beyond traditional ideas of heaven and hell, reflecting humanity’s imagination of the afterlife in an increasingly AI-dependent era. I envision a peaceful afterworld where humans and artificial intelligence coexist.

In this world, death is not an end but a transition. A human face suggests a life review and self-reflection, while an extinguished candle represents the end of life and the possibility of entering a new state of existence.

The work also reflects the evolving relationship between humans and technology. Rather than replacing humanity, technology continues alongside us, even beyond death. Moss symbolizes resilience and quiet growth, suggesting how technology can become a natural part of life.

The butterfly is the central symbol, inspired by Zhuangzi’s dream of transformation. It represents the shifting boundary between reality and illusion, life and death. As a bridge between worlds, the butterfly suggests that death may be another form of existence.

Sukhavati invites viewers to reflect on mortality, transformation, and the future relationship between humans and technology.
